Derek Mullins is an associate who joined the firm in 2017. Mr. Mullins concentrates his practice on the representation of insurance companies and their insureds. His practice emphasizes both first and third-party insurance coverage matters across a variety of practice areas, including commercial litigation, employment disputes, insurance defense, and premises liability.
Mr. Mullins graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (B.A., History & Political Science, 2012); and earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law (J.D., 2017). He has been admitted to the following courts: Tennessee, 2017; U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee, 2017.
After his undergraduate studies, Mr. Mullins worked as a teacher. While in law school, he participated in a variety of intramural moot court competitions and won the University of Tennessee College of Law’s annual oral advocacy competition for first-year students. Mr. Mullins served on the college of law’s Moot Court Board, participated in the UT Law Legal Clinic’s Appellate Litigation Clinic, and was nominated to the Order of Barristers for his oral advocacy, brief writing, and dedication to moot court programs. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mullins worked as a judicial intern for Chancellor E.G. Moody of the Second Judicial District of Tennessee and as a law clerk for the District Attorney General’s Office for the Second Judicial District of Tennessee.
Mr. Mullins is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations.
Mr. Mullins was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, but currently resides in Nashville. When he is not working, he enjoys cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
